Micro Sandbox’s Inaugural Session: A Journey of Innovation, Resilience, and Community Spirit
Last weekend marked a momentous occasion in the journey of Micro Sandbox. Our very first session, held on November 4–5, 2023, was nothing short of a spectacular start to a creative adventure.
Allow us to share the incredible stories that unfolded during this unforgettable weekend.
🎤 Meet the Presenters:
We had the privilege of receiving 5 remarkable individuals as presenter, surpassing our initial target of 3. Yet with current constraints, we were only able to facilitate 3 presenters. Let me introduce you to these visionaries:
1. Dave Thomas: A seasoned Product Analyst in the Payment Backend realm.
2. Febby Chandra: A career-shifter, transitioning from a Supply Chain specialist to an Associate Product Manager for an AI startup.
3. M. Gaussian: A dynamic career-shifter with over two years of project management experience, now aspiring to be a Product Manager.
🤝 Meet the Buddies:
Our buddy count also exceeded expectations, with twelve enthusiastic souls ready to make an impact. Initially, we aimed for a 1:3 ratio of Presenters to Buddies, but we adapted to accommodate the surging enthusiasm with a 1:4 ratio.
🔎 Let’s take a closer look at what these teams came up with:
1. Dave’s: Tackling the inefficiencies in clothing purchases due to overwhelming choices and quality inconsistencies, Dave’s brainchild envisions a brand that provides quality, affordable clothes every day.
His dedicated buddies, Arum Pratnya, Michaela, and Grace Sally, shared their passion for the fashion industry and product management.
2. Febby’s: With a deep concern for the millions of orphans in Indonesia facing uncertain futures, Febby embarked on a mission to create a digital product that enhances education, career support, healthcare, and foster care for orphans aged 15–17.
His devoted buddies, Kresna Noviarditya and Hasnah Sabrina, are all dedicated to solving real-life problems and making a social impact.
3. Gauss’s: Addressing the issue of leisure time often squandered on screens, Gauss proposed a handheld pocket device that instantly configures the screen environment for focused activities.
His trusty buddies, Fahri Rafianto, Olivia Handoyo, and Tomy Hutomo, shared their passion for innovative solutions on user experience.
💡 Innovative Ideas Take Center Stage:
Our first session on Saturday morning was nothing short of a blast! The presenters made the most of their 5-minute time slots to articulate their problems, solutions, target users, and expectations for the 24-hour session. The energy was electric as buddies eagerly joined their chosen presenters to embark on this creative journey.
🏃 Creative Collaboration:
Post-session, teams embarked on their individual journeys, managing their time and resources efficiently. While we provided facilities on Discord, they had the freedom to utilize any means necessary. These dedicated individuals juggled their professional and personal lives, refining their ideas with unwavering commitment.
⏰ The Turn of Events:
As we geared up for Sunday’s session, expectations were sky-high. However, life threw us a curveball, as all presenters fell ill, leaving only buddies to take the stage.
🛠️ Adapt and Thrive:
In the spirit of resilience, we swiftly devised a plan:
1. Exclusive Discord channels, aptly named “Incubation rooms,” were created for each idea.
2. Admin and Game Masters stepped in to assist and monitor progress.
3. Buddies who showed up brainstormed ways to enhance future sessions.
4. Laughter and camaraderie thrived as we explored playful Discord features.
🗣️ The Voice of Our Community:
After the session, we sought feedback from all participants, presenters, buddies, and volunteers. The results were heartening:
- 57.1% expressed “very satisfied.”
- 42.9% were “satisfied.”
- 100% praised our Game Masters, Nindya and Salsa.
- 100% lauded our Admin, Ryandi.
- 86.7% expressed their intent to join future sessions.
- 100% were eager to become buddies.
- 85.7% pledged to recommend Micro Sandbox to their friends.

1. “Screen sharing was challenging at times.”
2. “A minor hiccup with our music bot, but it was otherwise smooth sailing.”
