Today is the first time I was deeply strucked by a painting, to the level that I wanted to own it. It was surreal. I can hardly explained the immediate and visceral experience I had.

It was a painting titled Step of Journey by Tanto Sutianto. I came across it on Saatchi Art online gallery while researching for a project. I never heard of his name, and saw his work. Well, not that I’m aware of.

I have seen paintings. I am no stranger for art gallery. I am no regular visitor, I visit art gallery while I was in Bandung for 9 years. At least, once a month or two.

But I have never been so moved.

So much so, words came flowing in my mind so vividly.

It was bleaked

I was bleached

Near the beach

I was bitched

By the joy

It was stormed

Least informed

Losing forms

Breaking norm

I was fooled

There is no end

But the tunnel I walked in

There is no fun

But the start of everything

Crashing waves

Making forms

Cardiac arrest

Is a testament

Of True live

Is giving in

On giving up

Thank you, Pak Tanto Sutianto. I don’t know who you are. I can’t found your profile, or any interviews about how and why you create your arts. But thank you regardless. This is an exciting new experience for me. A step of journey, indeed. I wish I could talk to you someday, sometimes.
